KICKIN’ THE OIL HABIT

We just love this new ad by Vote Vets;  it does make the case for getting off the carbon-gravy-train.  Sometimes effective communication is more than pitching an appeal to America’s logic, intellect, or even hope.  At times an effective message can be simple and from the gut:  You’re either with our troops or you’re with the middle eastern oil-potentates.

Jimmy Carter did try to get the ball rolling in 1979 when he was President.  He installed solar power panels at the White House and told America that we needed to kick the oil habit.  Even oil President W. Bush said our country had to get off of middle east oil.  Democratic and Republican Presidents agree that we need a serious energy policy that shifts our emphasis away from oil.

Republicans understand that we can’t continue to send our tax money to middle eastern countries that hate us — that forming an intelligent energy policy is a national defense necessity.

Democrats get that, and also see a bigger picture by understanding that America’s cheap oil dependance is not only a national defense issue, but is also a health issue — check out the air quality in Los Angeles — (asthma anyone?), as well as an issue for the long-term health and beauty of our world.

Wowee — thanks Vote Vets!  These guys really get it and are the right folks to deliver the message.
